The Cyprus International Trust Law allows a number of arrangements that are in line with the requirements of sophisticated investors with cross-border family relationship and assets. Some examples are: (i) estate planning arrangements for families coming from jurisdictions with forced heirship provisions, (ii) asset protection exercises, and (iii) private trusts furthering charitable purposes. In addition domestic trust law allows to the set-up traditional trusts under provisions crafted after the corresponding 20th century English legislation. This is a perfect framework for a leading trust jurisdiction. This presentation will highlight the comparative advantages of Cyprus in relation to other international financial centres.
